Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about working with Altrian
Altrian Global Sports is a sports business firm based in Seville, incorporated in 2021, working with sports brands, clubs, institutions and investors in Spain and Europe. These are the questions it is asked most often, answered directly.
What Altrian does
What exactly does Altrian Global Sports do?
Altrian Global Sports develops the business of sports organisations across six verticals: strategy consulting, technology and digital transformation, sponsorship and commercial, sports retail and wholesale, public bodies and institutions, and investors and owners. The work ranges from analysis through to execution with direct responsibility for the operation.
Is Altrian a consultancy or an operator?
Both, depending on the engagement. There are engagements of analysis and recommendation, and engagements of execution in which Altrian Global Sports takes direct responsibility: running a wholesale business, managing a portfolio of wholesale accounts, or holding a club's executive leadership on an interim basis. Which one applies is agreed in writing before starting.
What kind of organisations does Altrian work with?
International sports brands, clubs and sports properties, federations and public bodies with responsibilities in sport, and foreign investors and owners entering Spanish sport. The common denominator is a business problem, not a sporting one.
Which markets does Altrian operate in?
Spain is the primary market, with a Seville base and operations across the country. Altrian Global Sports has also operated the Portuguese market and worked with organisations in Europe and Latin America. The deep knowledge — the kind that translates into open accounts and direct contacts — is of the Spanish market.
How the work runs
Can a foreign brand sell in Spain without incorporating a Spanish company?
Yes. Under the commercial agency model the brand invoices Spanish customers directly from its own country and the agent acts on the brand's behalf, with no need to incorporate a company or hold a permanent establishment in Spain to operate that way. The specific tax obligations depend on the structure and should be verified with the brand's own advisers.
How is a market entry engagement in Spain structured?
In three phases. First, diagnosis: entry model, price structure and target account map. Second, opening: presentation to buyers within the sell-in calendar and negotiation of terms. Third, operation: account management, delivery tracking, price control in the channel and regular reporting to the brand.
How long before results appear?
The first order arrives, at best, in the immediate sell-in cycle: if the brand has a range in September, orders are confirmed in October. Building a stable account network takes eighteen to twenty-four months, because the Spanish channel is a relationship market and buyers need to see two or three seasons of delivery before expanding.
How is Altrian's work remunerated?
It depends on the type of engagement. Commercial mandates are usually remunerated through commission on business actually generated; consulting and management engagements through fees agreed by scope and duration. The specific terms are set out in writing before any work begins.
Does Altrian work with competing brands?
Not within the same category and the same market. A brand mandate in Spain requires access to the client's commercial information and to its relationships with channel buyers, and that is not compatible with simultaneously representing a direct competitor. The scope of exclusivity is defined in the contract.
Does Altrian sign confidentiality agreements?
Yes. Altrian Global Sports routinely works under confidentiality agreements and does not publish or comment on client information beyond naming the relationship where it is already in the public domain or where the client has authorised it in writing.
Team and contact
Who does the work?
The Altrian Global Sports team: Ramón Loarte as founder, with Iván Merino, Fran Foncea and Triana Bermúdez-Cañete. Every engagement has a named lead, who is the client's point of contact throughout the relationship.
What languages does Altrian work in?
Spanish and English, in client communication as well as in documentation and in negotiation with the channel and with sports properties.
How does a conversation with Altrian start?
By email to hi@altrianglobalsports.com, describing the situation and the market. The first conversation establishes whether the problem fits what Altrian Global Sports does well; if it does not, that is said in the same conversation.
And about the Spanish market?
Questions on how the channel, the calendar and technical sponsorship work in Spain are answered in the market entry guide.
